Folio AI isn't another site where you generate a slide and export it. It installs as an add-in inside PowerPoint itself — and inside Google Slides too — and shows up as a panel next to your slides. You write what you need, and it edits the actual shapes on the slide: text boxes, charts, icons. No images pretending to be slides.
The closest everyday comparison: it's like sitting a senior analyst next to you who already memorized your company's font and colors and edits the real file — instead of handing you a new version to copy and paste piece by piece.
How much Folio AI costs
It's free to start: every new account gets 500 credits, no card required. Credits are what you spend each time Folio generates or edits a slide — and according to Folio itself, a complete 10-slide deck uses 100 to 200 credits. In practice, that's 2 to 5 full presentations from the free tier alone.

In the Home or Insert tab, click "Add-ins" (or "Get Add-ins") and search for "Folio AI".

Tips & common mistakes
Do this
- Start from an already-approved template — Folio copies the font and color from that file instead of inventing a new layout.
- Ask in smaller chunks instead of "redo the whole deck" — large requests take longer and fail more often.
- Check credit usage in the panel's "⋯" menu before generating a big deck, so you don't run out mid-month.
Avoid
- Relying on it without internet — generation stalls if the connection drops mid-way.
- Assuming it'll install smoothly on a locked-down work account — IT policy can block Office add-ins, and only an administrator can unblock them.
- Presenting without checking every slide — a real Product Hunt review reported a bug when adding a slide inside an existing deck: the template isn't always followed perfectly.
Shrink a real deck you already have
Open any presentation you own — the last one you sent to someone — in PowerPoint, install Folio, and ask: "summarize this deck into half the slides, keeping the original font and colors."

What convinced me testing it is simple: it edits the actual slide instead of spitting out an image you'd have to rebuild later. For anyone who already lives inside PowerPoint — and finance teams do — that skips the most annoying step, adapting the AI's output back into the company's template. On the flip side, it's a very new product (launched June 27, 2026), it charges in dollars through a credit system that demands attention, and at least one published review already ran into a bug inserting a slide into an existing deck. Not a dealbreaker, but a reason to check every slide before presenting.

Not every presentation starts inside a PowerPoint file that already exists. Is Folio AI free?
Yes, to start. Every new account gets 500 free credits, no card required. Since a complete 10-slide deck uses 100 to 200 credits (Folio's own official figure), that's enough for 2 to 5 full presentations before you'd need to subscribe to any plan.
Do I need a credit card?
Not to try it. The Starter plan and the 500 starting credits don't require a card. A card is only needed if you decide to subscribe to a paid plan, starting at $10 a month.
Does it work in Portuguese?
The site and the add-in panel are in English, French, Spanish, and German — there's no officially confirmed Portuguese interface as of August 2026. Since it's a free-text AI agent, it tends to answer and write slides in whatever language you prompt it in, but it's worth checking the output before trusting a full deck in another language.
Does it work on mobile?
It isn't built for that. Folio runs as an add-in inside PowerPoint (Windows, Mac, or PowerPoint on the web) and as a Google Slides add-on in the browser. There's no separate mobile app, and Folio doesn't confirm support for add-ins inside PowerPoint mobile.
Is my data safe?
Folio states it's GDPR compliant and offers SSO and MFA login on enterprise plans. These are vendor statements — before uploading a deck with confidential client data, it's worth reviewing the official privacy policy with your IT or compliance team.
Do I need PowerPoint installed on my computer?
Not necessarily. You can use Folio inside PowerPoint on the web without installing anything on your computer, or inside Google Slides directly in the browser.
