What it is

An assistant that reads what you want and writes it for you

ChatGPT is a tool from OpenAI: you type what you need — a follow-up message, a summary, a reply to a client — and it delivers the text, in natural language. Think of it as a well-informed colleague available at any hour, who reads, writes, and adapts to what you ask. All in the browser, in your language, with nothing to install.

Why it matters

The message you keep putting off because you don't know how to start

The follow-up email you avoid because you don't want to sound pushy. The proposal that would be better if you knew how to rephrase it. The reply to a difficult client you rewrite three times before hitting send.

400 M

400 million people every week already handle this kind of task with ChatGPT — salespeople, teachers, freelancers. And the tool is free.

In your workday

How people use it at work

Salesperson

Sent a proposal and the client went silent. Asks ChatGPT for a 3-line follow-up, friendly, with the product name. Ready to send in under 30 seconds.

HR / Recruiter

Needs an attractive job description. Describes the role in 2 sentences and receives a full text with requirements and highlights in clear, natural language.

Freelancer

Spends more time replying to clients than actually working. Uses ChatGPT to draft quotes and standard replies, adaptable to each situation.

Step by step

From zero to your first generated text

// interface verified in June 2026 — if something looks different, search for the button by name in the ChatGPT help center
  1. Go to chatgpt.com

Click "Log in" in the top-right corner. No account? Click "Sign up" — free with email, Google, or Microsoft account.

  2. Find the text box in the center of the screen

You'll see a typing area with the prompt "What can I help with?" (or similar). That's where you start.

    no prior configuration needed
  3. Type what you need, in plain language

Write naturally, as you would in a message to a colleague. Press Enter or click the send arrow next to the box.

  4. Read the reply and refine in the same conversation

Not quite right? Reply in the same box: "make it more formal" or "shorten to 2 sentences." No need to start over.

conversation context is kept while the window is open
  5. Start a new chat when you need one

Click "New chat" in the left panel — pencil icon or "+" button — to start a different topic without mixing contexts.

What few people know

Tips & common mistakes

Do this

  • Be specific: "3-line follow-up email for a salesperson" works much better than just "write an email."
  • Ask for tweaks in the same conversation: "make it more formal" or "cut to 2 sentences" work without starting over.
  • Use it as a draft: write your rough idea and ask ChatGPT to improve the structure and fix any errors.

Avoid

  • Never publish data, names, or figures from ChatGPT without fact-checking — the model can invent information with complete confidence, known as "hallucination."
  • Recent events, prices, and new laws may be wrong — the model has a knowledge cutoff and, on the free plan, doesn't browse the internet in real time.
  • On the free plan, access to the most advanced model (GPT-4o) is limited per day — during peak hours, the system may automatically switch to a simpler version.

Go to chatgpt.com, open a new chat, and type: "I'm a salesperson selling [your product]. A client asked for a proposal 2 days ago and hasn't replied. Write a friendly 3-line follow-up."

Is it worth it?

Our honest verdict

4,5

score 4.5 out of 5

ChatGPT is today the most complete and easiest-to-use conversational AI — great in Portuguese, free to use, and the paid plans are affordable (Go at R$ 39.99 in Brazil). But it isn't magic: it sometimes makes up facts (hallucinates), has a message cap, and by default uses your chats to train the model. Treat it as a powerful assistant that always needs your double-check — never as the final source of truth.

Tested and checked against official sources on July 2, 2026.

In its favor

  • The most capable model around: the standard today is GPT-5.5 Instant, with more advanced versions (Thinking and Pro) on paid plans.
  • You can use it for free, and the paid plans are affordable: in Brazil, Go at R$ 39.99 and Plus at R$ 99.90 per month.
  • Very easy to use and it understands Portuguese very well — simple interface, voice input and the world's largest base of tutorials.
  • Real-time web search inside the chat, available even on the free plan.

Against

  • Hallucinates: sometimes invents facts, sources and numbers that look real. Always check anything important.
  • Has a message cap — up to 160 every 3 hours on Plus and Go; after that the chat drops to a reduced version.
  • Privacy: by default your chats can be used to train the model. Don't paste passwords or confidential data.
  • Tends to agree too much and may carry biases — review and push back instead of accepting everything.
Is it free? What does it cost?

Today's prices, no small print

Yes, genuinely free: the free plan is permanent, no deadline and no card. It already includes the essentials — GPT-5.5 Instant (with a limit), web search inside the chat, reading files and images, and Study mode.

Free

R$ 0 — limited GPT-5.5 Instant, web search, read files and images, Study mode. No card.

Go

R$ 39.99/mo — much higher message and upload limits. Good for daily use.

Plus

R$ 99.90/mo — better models (GPT-5.5 Thinking), more features and memory.

Pro

from R$ 525/mo — heavy use and advanced features (GPT-5.5 Pro).

Brazil bonus: Nubank customers get free months of ChatGPT Go (official partnership; the length varies). Prices shown for Brazil (R$), official as of July 2026 (chatgpt.com/pricing).

Who is it for?

Is it right for you?

It's worth it if you…

  • want a single tool for everyday tasks (writing, summarizing, studying, generating images), starting on free or Go at R$ 39.99.
  • produce a lot of text — emails, drafts, proposals — and want to move faster.
  • want to learn and try AI at no cost, using the free plan and Study mode.

Think twice if you…

  • need 100% reliable info without checking (legal, medical, financial, exact numbers) — because of the hallucination risk.
  • handle confidential data from clients or your company without a business plan.
  • are a very heavy user, hit the message cap often and don't want the pricier plans.

Frequently asked

The questions everyone has

Is ChatGPT really free?

Yes. There's a permanent free plan (R$ 0), no deadline and no credit card, with limited access to GPT-5.5 Instant, web search and file/image uploads.

Do I need a credit card for the free plan?

No. Just create an account with email or a Google/Apple/Microsoft login. A card is only needed if you pick a paid plan (Go, Plus or Pro).

How much does it cost in Brazil?

Official prices (July 2026): Go R$ 39.99/month, Plus R$ 99.90/month and Pro from R$ 525/month. The free plan stays at R$ 0.

What's the difference between free and paid?

Paying gets you much higher limits (more messages, uploads and images), better models (GPT-5.5 Thinking and Pro) and extras like building your own GPTs, agent mode and more memory.

Can it be wrong?

Yes. ChatGPT sometimes makes up facts (hallucinations). Always double-check important information against an official source before using it.

Is it available in Portuguese?

Yes, fully — it understands and replies in Portuguese naturally, so you can use it 100% in your own language.
